How about adding a leveling system? you could have different jobs that you have to be a certain level for, and Skills that you can unlock when you are at a certain level?
It's just an Idea I thought of, Maybe see if it would work out.

I am not sure, it restricts the freedom to immediately be who you want to be, by working for it.

The one now Is ok, but it needs more meaning to it. Like Every level up you get a Skill point, and with that one skill point you can choose from among 5-6 different Skills, that give you an advantage, but not too much of one
